NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) DIVISION: FINANCE AND FACILITIES DEPARTMENT: PROTECTION SERVICES POSITION NUMBER: P000319 VACANCY: SENIOR CONTROL OFFICER (SECURITY) PEROMNES GRADE: 10 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To manage Security Services Strategy Implementation · To implement the NWU Protection Services Strategy. Operational Security Services · Supervise Control Officers on shifts. · Ensure briefing (on and off duty) parades are conducted. · Implement SLA between PS and Service Provider. · Ensure data integrity. · Conduct risk assessments. · People Management. · Ensure quality statement taking. · Ensure docket quality. · To conduct presentations. Crime information management · Verify information and submit to Senior Manager. · Interpretation of crime threat and pattern analysis. · Ensure that briefing notes are compiled. · Develop perpetrator profiles. Disaster Management · Implement the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP). · Activate the Senior Manager (SM) as soon as a disaster occurs. Crime prevention management · Ensure that deployments are executed in terms of the Crime Pattern Analysis (CPA). · Ensure crime prevention actions are executed, such as, stop and search, active patrols, observation and vehicle check points (VCPS). · Develop a crime prevention plan. Special events · Develop an operational plan to manage an event in terms of SASREA. SHE · Implement the relevant section of the OHSA. · Participate in the quarterly SHE departmental meeting. Training and Development · Identify training needs of members in terms of PDP. · Nominate members to attend relevant and developmental training interventions. People Management · Conduct performance appraisals of members. · Identify development areas. · A Degree or Diploma in Security Management or Policing or related. · Registration with PSIRA. · A minimum of three (3) years' experience in Security and Policing. KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: · Interpersonal Skills. · Surveillance. · Emergency management. · Integrity. · Problem-solving personal skills. · Teamwork. · Leadership. · Conduct resolutions. · Risk assessment.
