THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Shift Supervisor & Setter in our Plastic Injection Moulding department. This role requires a hands-on approach to overseeing production activities, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery, and leading a team of setters during each shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality standards, optimizing production processes, and promoting a culture of safety and teamwork. Supervisory: Lead and supervise a team of Machine Operators and Setters to ensure smooth operation and efficient utilization of resources across all shifts. Allocate tasks and responsibilities to team members on each shift, based on individual strengths and workload requirements. Take charge of any and all challenges that each shift might present. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to foster continuous improvement and development of staff. Resolve conflicts or issues within the team in a timely and professional manner. Escalate to HR when necessary. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times. Setting and Operation Set up and adjust plastic injection moulding machines according to product specifications and production requirements. Allocate staff to each machine according to the instructions of the Factory and Production Manager. Monitor machine parameters and make necessary adjustments to optimize production efficiency and product quality. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to machinery, tooling, or materials to minimize downtime. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and perform preventive maintenance tasks as needed. Ensure that all production activities comply with quality standards and meet customer expectations. Knowledge and Completion of documents pertaining to each shift and for every component of production as indicated by Company Regulations and Quality Assurance. Production Responsibilities Injection Moulding machine setter and robot setter Coordinate and perform machine setting functions. Ensure that product comply with standards, including Master samples. Set mold's, clamp mould's, and quality control first offs and last of samples Take responsibility during machine stoppages or tool breakdowns to implement corrective actions or repair or rescheduling of production during day or nightshift in collaboration with the production manager. Implement and Maintain measures for loss control, time inefficiencies, theft and damage to machines and other company property. Assist Mould changers in replacing or installing new molds in machine. Mix material and fill machine hopper if requested. Assist and plan deliveries when required. Assign production tasks to Operators, Mould changers, Granulators, Assemblers, and material mixers. Ensure that Mould changes and Machine set ups are performed timeously. Monitors employee work habits and makes sure tasks are completed in a timely fashion. Ensure that Quality procedures and process are adhere to al all times. Give instruction to keep work area clean and organized. Addresses and resolve production issues timeously on shift. Ensure that daily production goals are met. Ensure that all registers and job cards at shift end is completed. Ensures that inventory is accounted for and moved from Shop floor to Quality Inspection area. Keep Production Manager informed apprised of daily production performance. Manage and control Quality control requirements on shop floor. Processes paperwork for HR or senior management as required. Train and develop new employees. Report labour relations issues Report time & attendance system problems and ensure ERS report is signed weekly. Preparing and analysing KPI's to ensure business was running to its full potential Daily machine and production efficiency reviews Complete machine setup Managing staff on shift , allocating duties as required Making sure all ISO standards are met Provision of support, training and advice to operators and assemblers Five S are always maintained Information gathering and preparation of reports on shift for plant Manager Making sure correct materials are used according to job spec Set and run injection moulding machines Doing trials on new products and raw material Shift hand over and production report as per plan Supervision and training the machine operators Optimize cycle time and making adjustment on process variables Looking after the machines and the auxiliary equipment Ensure all Mould changes and start-ups are done. Conducting trial runs on New Moulds and Materials and also recording setting data sheets Doing trials on new products and raw material Quality Ensure that product comply with required quality standards. Communicate any potential defect to your shift supervisor immediately. Record machine performance as required on the “Production Control Sheet” and “Mould change Reports.” Record relevant data on “Quality control documentation.” The employee commits to familiarizing himself/herself with the ISO 9001:2015 Standard, Quality Manual, Procedures and Works Instructions related to his/her activities. Core skills Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Ability to participate in a production team, leading by example attitude is essential. Must be able to take part in Operational Excellence improvement initiatives. Must be willing to accept any reasonable instruction outside abovementioned job scope. Must be able to work shifts as determine by the company shift policy. Must be to work overtime or extended hours when required. Assign production tasks to Operators, Mould changers, Granulators, Assemblers, and material mixers. Ensure that Mould changes and Machine set ups are performed timeously. Monitors employee work habits and makes sure tasks are completed in a timely fashion. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements : Grade 12/N3 (Math's & English) Ability to communicate, read and write in English (pass company entry test) 2-3 years CNC Machine setting and programming experience Computer literate Injection Moulding Machine Setting certificate 3 years Injection Moulding Machine Setting experience Plastics Federation of SA certificate NQF Level ( 4 ) (Plastic manufacturing) Communication skill Market related Apply Now
