Diplomat South Africa is looking to fill the role of Shift Supervisor in the Warehouse Department to be based in KwaZulu - Natal , Durban . This position will report to the Warehouse Manager. Job Purpose To effectively manage the Warehousing Function of the business. This role also needs to implement process innovation initiatives in operations that will ensure continual improvement and improved cost management. Critical to this role is the implementation of good governance and ensure compliance to policies and standards. Due to the large staff contingent, good people management practices play a vital role. Key Responsibilities Assist in managing the warehouse budget. Ensure cost savings targets are met. Manage efficiencies to ensure optimal spent for warehouse activities. Assist in ensuring effective utilisation of storage space. Understand the business of the customer to ensure operational capacity to exceed expectations Daily stock control (FIFO/FEFO), together with stock accountability. Ensuring daily cycle counts are done. Ensure a safe and healthy workplace at all times. Assist to ensure project implementation. Ensure compliance to standard operating procedures. Maintain quality standards for products and the operation. Manage warehouse operation with regards to warehouse operational employees (i.e. pickers etc.). Ensure staff is rostered as per operational requirement. Ensure productivity requirement is achieved. Accurate reporting of daily KPI's. People management and time keeping. Conduct daily meetings with team. Report defects on all MHE, ensure inspections are completed as per requirement. Oversee the regular checking of equipment to ensure functionality. Compliance with Good Warehouse Practices and quality management. Adhere to company's Health and Safety rules, laws and regulations. Stay abreast of latest developments in the industry. Conduct training needs analysis for operational employees. Take responsibility for self-development through self-study, identification of learning opportunitie. Position Requirements Completed Matric or equivalent accredited by SAQA. A relevant tertiary qualification. 3-7 years' experience in the logistics environment under the FMCG banner. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. A clear understanding of and working experience of IT systems (ERP systems ,WMS packages etc.). SAP systems knowledge would be an added advantage. Must have been involved in shift work operations and willing to work day/night shifts rotation and overtime. Experience in managing a set budget in the warehouse with ability to control the running expenses. A good understanding of housekeeping standards to be able to run a tidy and clean operation. A hands-on operator with strong attention to detail skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Provident Fund Medical Aid
