The Stakeholder Engagement Component aims to support landscapes to implement programmes that promotes access to protected areas. In addition, we create opportunities for socio-economic development and facilitate the empowerment and development of emerging contractors within job creation programmes so that they can meet industry norms and standards, and participate in the mainstream economy. Key Responsibilities KPA 1 – Guide and facilitate development and support of emerging contractors within Conservation Operations and Ecotourism Directorates Guide and facilitate strategies to drive operational improvements of the SMME Development & Support initiatives in Landscapes. Facilitate and support Landscapes in the appointment and registration of emerging contractors in the system. Assist projects in evaluating performance of emerging contractors through project visits or audits. Facilitate grading process of emerging contractors. KPA 2 - Lead the coordinating & rolling out training and social development initiatives as per approved CapeNature Invasive Alien Species & Restoration, Integrated Catchment Management Programmes Annual Training Plans and Ecotourism initiatives. Submission of consolidated and approved Annual Training Plans ATPs (skills development plan). Monitor training deliverables against signed SLAs for job creation programmes Provide guidance and support to individual projects in aligning training needs and budgets. Facilitate and coordinate SMME/stakeholder capacity building workshops. KPA 3 - Develop and sustain key provincial and national stakeholder partnerships that will enhance contractor and participants development. Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders such as SEDA, SARS, DoH, DEDAT, DoL & CIDB, Productivity SA etc. Attend SMME Opportunity Roadshows & Indabas or Symposium to gain knowledge about latest information on the sector. Facilitate the convening of contractors’ development forum meetings and strengthening SMME participatory forums. Maintains, open and professional communication with internal & external stakeholders to assist in creating smooth workflow. KPA 4 - Facilitate capacity building sessions to Landscapes on emerging business development and relevant CapeNature SMME Standard Operating Guidelines Facilitate capacity building sessions for project management teams and stakeholder engagement team. Outline processes to new officials and share Standard Operating Guidelines or available material to use. Facilitate business workshops to maintain support for community projects and link them up with enterprise development institutions. Lead the development of tools to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the implementation of SMME Development Support initiatives. KPA 5 - Monitoring and Reporting of performance on training and skills development initiatives of appointed SMMEs across the Landscapes. Responsible to implement and manage the SMME Development Plan & Quarterly interventions. Submission of Quarterly training and skills development reports or KPI Reports Schedule quarterly project visits or join scheduled audits to conduct monitoring and evaluation. Prepare and submit progress reports and make recommendations on SMME development within CapeNature. Requirements: Relevant NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification in Natural/Social Sciences or Economic Management Sciences At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in community development and project management with a proven track record Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team. Excellent understanding of broader government priorities and policies related to local economic development, job creation, the biodiversity economy and community beneficiation Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Bilingualism in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) A valid driver’s license with proven driving experience Reommendations: At least 3 - 5 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement processes and community dynamics and networking Background knowledge of People and Parks Programme and Community Based Natural Resource Management Apply via: https://capenature.simplify.hr/ Closing Date: 24 April 2024 Apply Now
