Forensic Social Worker (2 posts) Assistant Director Social Work (Major) Provincial Detective Service: Kimberley South African Police Act 68 of 1995 Band D: R 336 012 per annum Forensic Social Work Unit Ref: NCS 97/7/2014 Forensic Social Work Ref: NCS 98/7/2014 CORE FUNCTIONS: Monitor and interpret the national standards for Forensic Social Work in respect of the legislation, policies, training, the rendering of service and evaluation are adhered to. Managing the effectiveness of the service rendered by Social workers conducting Forensic Social Work in the province. Conduct Forensic social work related investigations, if required by the Provincial Coordinator. Collect quarterly Forensic Social Work returns, audits and any information containing the successful investigation of child sexual abuse cases to the Provincial Coordinator. Engage in training and the CPD’s for Forensic Social Work. Conduct the PEP for Social workers practicing Forensic Social Work in the province and general administrative issues. Facilitate the development and training of Social Workers conducting Forensic Social Work. Conduct quarterly Forensic Social Work inspections and compile reports to the Forensic Social Work Provincial Coordinator. Manage and ensure optimal utilization of resources (human, physical and financial) allocated to the post to support effective service delivery. GENERIC REQUIREMENTS APPLICABLE TO ALL ADVERTISED POSTS: Be in possession of at least a completed SAQA accredited BA Degree in social work and registered as a social worker with the South African Council for Social Service professions.Be in possession of a diploma or certificate courses in child sexual abuse and forensic assessments of children. Must be a paid up registered social worker at SACSSP. Not have any previous criminal or departmental convictions, pending criminal / departmental or civil cases. Be suitable in terms of the requirements as set out in the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 28 of 2005) and Criminal Law (Sexual offences on related matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007). Must be in possession of a portfolio of evidence of 20 continuous professional development (CPD) points for the applicable calendar year. Have proven experience and training in the field of child abuse, child development and the assessment of children. Have proven experience in the compiling of court reports.Have proven experience of testifying as an expert in criminal court cases. Must be in possession of a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license. Have at least 4 years practical experience in forensic social work.Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English.
