Applications are invited from suitably qualified people for the position of Maintenance Storeman based at our Head office in Watford Road, Congella, Durban. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for procuring quality technical products at the best possible price and maintaining the spares store for the Maintenance team of the Chester Group. Responsible for ordering stock based on quantities needed to maintain stock levels. Rotate stock effectively on the “last in first out” principle. Issue stock to technicians as per requisitions. Count stock and mark stock cards accurately. Ensure requisitions are captured and stock levels updated on the system. Conduct regular cycle counts and stocktakes. Keep the Maintenance Manager updated with regards to orders, shortages, and quality Investigate timeously queries and discrepancies that may arise . Obtain competitive quotations from different suppliers. Secure purchase orders based on approved quotes. Responsible for organising and housekeeping of storeroom. Matric or equivalent technical qualification. Suitable course in Inventory Management / Supply Chain / Logistics would be beneficial. Proven experience working with stock as a Technical Buyer / Storeman within an Engineering, automotive, or industrial environment. Knowledge and experience of sourcing technical item such as mechanical & electrical components, lighting, building supplies, etc Experience in supplier sourcing and pricing negotiations essential. Able to physically capable of picking stock and lifting heavy items. Working knowledge and experience in working with an ERP System & Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Code 08 Drivers licence and comfortable driving to suppliers, sites and stores as and when required. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak, read and write in English. Professional with excellent business acumen and attention to detail. Ability to work within a pressurized and deadline driven operating environment. Excellent time management and attendance. Ability to work every Saturday.
