Systems Administrator - - Pretoria

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role in IT.
Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with security concepts and best practices, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.

Duties will include but is not limited to:
System Maintenance and Monitoring:

Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of servers, networks, and other IT systems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations.

Infrastructure Management:

Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, including servers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
Manage virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V to optimize server resources and improve scalability.

Security Implementation:

Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's systems and data from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats.
Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates as needed to address vulnerabilities.

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

Develop and implement backup strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data.
Create and test disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and recovery time in the event of system failures or disasters.

User Support and Training:

Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assisting with system configurations.
Develop and deliver training materials to educate users on IT best practices and procedures.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance with IT policies and regulations
