Position : Windows Systems Administrator / IT Support Engineer Location: Paarden Island Work setup : Full time in office Salary: Market related based on experience BEE Position My client is seeking a Support Engineer or Network Administrator to join their small IT Facilities team in Paarden Island. They currently use Windows PCs and Servers; the Servers hosted in an on-premise VMWare environment. An on-premise Microsoft SQL Server supports our developed and packaged solutions. Currently migrating from desktop Office 2016 software to Microsoft 365 and from an on-premise Exchange server to Exchange Online. The aim is to move all on-premise applications and infrastructure into the cloud within the next 24 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of their systems and providing support to end-users. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Key Responsibilities: Assist managing and maintain Microsoft Active Directory (AD) environment, including user account management, group policy administration, and domain controller configuration. Assist maintaining DNS infrastructure and ensure proper resolution of domain names. Provide user support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, and other end-user devices. Manage and administer Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of server operating systems. Support and administer Microsoft Office suite applications. Manage antivirus (AV) products and ensure systems are protected against malware and other security threats. Configure and maintain printers and printer servers. Assist implementing and manage Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions. Assist configuring and maintain wireless networks, VLANs, and switches. Provide support for Microsoft Exchange server and email systems. Assist managing and administering SQL databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Maintaining Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) methodologies to ensure business continuity. Administer Mimecast email security and archiving solutions. Support and administer VMware virtualization infrastructure. The successful candidate will require: Good English communication skills A suitable qualification in a relevant category 5 or more years' experience in a similar role Confidence in working with complex systems A can-do attitude with the ability to research and be a team player. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and self-start. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator or similar role. Good knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and Windows Server environments. Experience providing user support and troubleshooting. Familiarity with antivirus products and security best practices. Proficiency in managing printers, PAM solutions, wireless networks, and VLANs. Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL, Mimecast, and VMware. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
