Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 15:00pm Area: Chartwell North Working with Special Needs Pupils Children's Ages: from 12 to 15 years old (but very young emotionally) School holidays: Paid leave for all school holidays Duties: • Deliver quality support, to individual learners as well as groups, within the classroom, under the guidance of the class teacher. • Provide the pupils with support academically and emotionally. The academic support is on a Grade 1 to 3 level level. • Assist with the smooth running of the classroom, helping to create and maintain an environment that is conducive to learning. • Use his/her initiative regarding interventions concerning the learners when or wherever necessary. • To help with control in all areas so that safe, constructive learning and playing can take place. • To be on regular break duty • To display respect for learners, parents, Unity staff and visitors. Competencies: • Team player • Good interpersonal skills. • Responsible, dependable, creative, reliable, respectful and honest. • Patient, compassionate, kind-hearted • Passion for children Special requirements: • Should preferably be studying towards a teaching qualification in ECD or Foundation Phase. • Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child-caring experience. This experience must be within the last 2 years. • Must have at least 2 contactable references. Must have a clear criminal record. A police clearance certificate is required. Must have Grade 12.
