Team Leader - Port Elizabeth

TEAM LEADER

A position has arisen at our PE plant in for a Team Leader reporting to the department al Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following:

  • Controlling and supervising the team to ensure production efficiencies of 80%
  • Ensuring accurate completion of Production tally sheets
  • Monitoring raw material usage and ensuring that machines are filled continuously with correct materials
  • Monitoring machine and mould performance
  • Reporting any faults on machines or moulds to the Technician or Production Manager
  • Correcting machine and processing problems, and fault finding for machine breakdowns
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is completely accurately and timeously
  • Ensuring packing and labeling is efficiently and correctly done as per customer requirements
  • Controlling safety aspects for your team - ensuring adherence to all safety standards
  • Monitoring and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality system
  • Ensuring correct paperwork is displayed at machines and completed correctly
  • Liaising with Quality inspectors continuously to ensure product standards are correct
  • Co-ordinating all ‘on-hold’ products
  • Allocating staff to relevant machine(s) as needed per staffing schedule
  • Assisting staff at machines as needed
  • Ensure that operators perform tasks correctly for the team.
  • Assisting staff with problems and issues as required
  • Provide on the job training and instruction as required
  • Ensuring that the production floor as a whole is clean and tidy. Ultimately the state of the department and its housekeeping is the Team Leader’s responsibility
  • Ensure that everyone in the department, including guests and visitors, are wearing the proper PPE
  • Checking operator hourly checklist every hour

To be considered for this position applications must meet the following criteria :

  • Be in possession of a Grade 12 Certificate
  • A technical diploma or qualification (preferably Mechanical) will be advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role
  • At least 2 years experience in an injection moulding environment
  • Have a strong ability to communicate with all levels and across departments
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Highly motivated and ability to motivate others
  • Strong technical/mechanical knowledge
  • Shift work essential
  • Self disciplined, enthusiastic, and a strong team player
  • Be reliable (proven track record)
  • Passionate about excellent service
  • An understanding of quality and a passion for it
  • Computer literate
  • Good conflict handling and management skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Availability to work overtime when required
  • Be reliable, honest and self-motivated
  • Be a team player
