Technical Assistant - Midrand
REPORTS TO: Managing Director and Exco
PURPOSE OF POSITION: An exciting opportunity awaits for a Technical Assistant to join a large automotive manufacturer. This person will ideally be an understudy to the MD, and will take mentorship from the MD and the Exco team, acting as a strategic partner to the Exco team for the MD. Will be responsible for formulating and executing strategic initiatives, drive projects, stakeholders, research, case studies, benchmarking, and innovative solutions relating to daily operations both within the head office and plant operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
MBA / Post Graduate Degree in a related field.
Experience: Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement within the automotive industry.
Advanced MS office skills
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy:
- Work closely with the Managing Director to understand the organization's vision and strategic goals.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with the company's long-term objectives.
- Conduct research, compile data, and prepare analysis to support strategic decision making and planning processes.
- Monitor country, industry, automotive trends, competitive landscape & market development to identify opportunities and risks.
Project Coordination:
- Lead the formulation of project plans, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and resources.
- Oversee project execution, coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Facilitate cross functional collaboration & communication among team member and stakeholder.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a trusted advisor and liaison to senior executives, providing strategic counsel and support as needed.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, maintaining utmost professionalism and confidentiality.
- Anticipate the needs of senior executives and proactively address issues or concerns to optimize their effectiveness and productivity.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including key partners and industry experts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive initiatives and align strategies.
Undertake case studies.
- Careful analysis and understanding of the case study material.
- Identify key issues and analyze the data.
- Apply relevant theories and frameworks, generate solutions, and recommend a course of action.
Research and Analysis:
- Extensive understanding and comprehension of the country economic and political impact on the business
- Extensive understanding of business in general and all its components
- Extensive understanding of the automotive industry including products, marketing, finance, network, sales strategy
- Conduct comprehensive research, including case studies and benchmarking, to gather insights and inform decision-making.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies within the automotive markets to identify opportunities for innovation.
Strategic Presentations:
- Prepare and deliver high-impact strategic presentations and reports to the EXCO group and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Power BI and other data visualization tools.
Finance:
- Understanding financial terminology and concepts can help in accurately conveying messages, summarizing financial reports, and facilitating financial discussions.
Legal:
- Where necessary ensure compliance to legal requirements by working closely with the legal department to mitigate operational risk
HR:
- Work closely with HR team to ensure smooth implementation of plant and other operational activities.
Innovative Solutions:
- Play a strategic role in identifying and developing innovative solutions to address business challenges and opportunities.
Knowledge Transfer:
- Act as a knowledge conduit between the Managing Director, EXCO, and other teams, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
