Technical Buyer position - West Rand - Tarlton - Close to Krugersdorp We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Technical Buyer. The Technical Buyer will play a crucial role in procuring technical goods and services necessary for our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to forge relationships with vendors. This position requires a keen understanding of technical specifications, market trends, and supply chain management. Responsibilities: Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors capable of supplying technical goods and services required by the company. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to achieve the best value for the company. Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. Technical Procurement: Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to understand requirements and specifications for technical products and services. Source and procure a wide range of technical materials, components, equipment, and services according to project timelines and budgetary constraints. Evaluate product samples, technical data, and specifications to ensure they meet quality standards and performance requirements. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and market dynamics to inform procurement decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities. Supply Chain Management: Coordinate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment. Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as needed to prevent shortages and production delays. Implement strategies to optimize the supply chain, reduce lead times, and minimize costs while maintaining quality standards. Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, such as shortages, price fluctuations, or geopolitical factors. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and delivery schedules. Generate reports on procurement metrics, such as cost savings, vendor performance, and inventory levels, to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience (3 years) in technical procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong understanding of technical specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite. Familiarity with supply chain management principles and best practices. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
