Technical Manager - Durban

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage hospital facilities, clinical infrastructure, and assets effectively.
  • Supervise all staff within the Technical Department.
  • Ensure proper resource planning in line with ISO 55000 principles.
  • Conduct technical training for nursing, pharmacy, admin, and management staff.
  • Manage technical-related purchasing and expenditure.
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance.
  • Implement and enforce Group policies and procedures for facility and asset management.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legislation.
  • Ensure quality and safety assurance throughout contract completion as the safety custodian.
  • Oversee project management and engineering services for small building projects on-site.
  • Manage the financial performance and budget of the Technical Department.
  • Maintain the asset management database on the CMMS, ensuring data reliability and validity.
  • Manage the maintenance management system to mitigate equipment risks and conduct necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports on staff, contractors, facilities, and assets.
  • Attend Hospital, Regional, and National meetings, focusing on nursing, health and safety, and infection control.
  • Develop training and succession plans in consultation with HR Manager to ensure staff meet statutory competency requirements.
Education:
  • A relevant 3-year Bachelor's Degree (BTech) or equivalent qualification at NQF level 7. (essential requirement)
  • Preferred: Certified Engineer (Certificate of Compliance GCC).
Work Experience & Knowledge:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of applicable technical and managerial experience
  • Experience in Asset Management and Financial Management.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical engineering in hospital and/or hospitality industries advantageous.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and asset management principles.
  • Understanding of energy and water management.
  • Knowledge of building regulations advantageous.
