Technical Sales Representative - Durban

Our client is looking for a Technical Sales Representative to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Increase market share at existing customers.

  • Identify and grow new customers.

  • Develop intimate knowledge of and strong relationships with customers.

  • Understand and make best use of sales channels available to maximize sales.

  • Understand and leverage customers' interactions with other entities of the client.

  • Master product offering.

  • Know when to call product expert to provide appropriate technical competency.

  • Display professionalism and proper image.

  • Control expenses within budget.

  • Professionally represent the company at all times.

  • Represent our client to become the Market Leader in Carbon Brushes and Brush Holders.

  • Identify and select the correct brush grades.

  • Identify and select the correct grade for electrical machine applications.

  • Achieve assigned sales and profit objectives.

  • Complete technical surveys.

  • Negotiate prices or other sales terms.

  • Process sales or other transactions.

  • Monitor market conditions or trends.

  • Develop content for sales presentations or other materials.

  • Prepare sales or other contracts.

  • Prepare financial documents, reports, or budgets.

  • Sell products or services.

  • Arrange delivery of goods or services.

  • Estimate costs or terms of sales.

  • Coordinate sales campaigns.

  • Share sales-related or market information with colleagues.

  • Monitor sales activities.

  • Attend events to develop professional knowledge.

  • Discuss design or technical features of products or services with technical personnel.

  • Study product information to acquire professional knowledge.

  • Will be required to perform other tasks from time to time as requested by senior management.

  • Being Customer Orientated.

  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs in order to gain a deeper insight into the needs of the customer.

  • Solve any problems associated with the customers electrical machines.

  • Foster and nurture existing customer relations and continue to seek and develop new customers for profitable growth.

  • To enhance sales opportunities, maximise sales and profit and maintain customer focus, of existing customers and new customers.

  • Follow up on all customers leads and quotations within 2 days.

  • Identify potential customers.

  • Explain technical product or service information to customers.

  • Answer customer questions about goods or services.

  • Advise customers on the use of products or services.

  • Contact current or potential customers to promote products or services.

  • Deliver promotional presentations to current or prospective customers.

  • Recommend products or services to customers.

  • Maintain records of customer accounts.

  • Demonstrate products to consumers.

  • Distribute promotional literature or samples to customers.

  • Explain financial information to customers.

  • Verify customer credit information.

  • Will be required to perform other tasks from time to time as requested by senior management.

Key Skills:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical product knowledge.

  • Familiar with electrical machines and the sale thereof.

  • Knowledge of principles and Ability to select correct brush grades or grade for electrical machine applications.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, JDE).

Qualifications:

  • High School Certificate (Matric or Equivalent).

  • Electrical Engineering or a Technical Qualification equal to N6/N7 (Advantage).

  • 6-8 Years Sales Experience.

  • Technical Experience (Advantage).
