Technical Service Manager - Cape Town City Centre

Reference: CPT000652-CV-1An engineering company specializing in the installations, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines and turbochargers for themarine, power, locomotive, and generator industries is looking for a Technical Service Manager to join their team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. Duties & Responsibilities Drive customer success by guiding the team to solve technical problems. Demonstrate a hands-on approach, all the way from project implementation to completion. Maintain strong relationships within the technical services team. Plan and implement jobs. Help define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Define tasks and required resources. Collect and manage the project team. Manage budget. Allocate project resources. Create a schedule and project timeline. Track deliverables. Support and direct team. Lead quality assurance. Present to the CEO reports on progress as well as problems and solutions. Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs. Evaluate and assess the result of the project. Maintain accurate records of jobs completed and associated financial costs. Use this information to report to the CEO regularly. Attend various meetings and coordinate with the foreman and other managers regarding implementation and explanation of jobs, problem resolution, etc. Ensure that all service reports are sent through timeously to customers. Ensure that customer inquiries, orders, and complaints are responded to promptly and satisfactorily. Maintain contact with all clients to ensure high levels of client satisfaction. Professionally present the company, to negotiate on its behalf. Providing technical support to customers by answering questions about products, troubleshooting problems, and providing advice. Management of the service team as well as customers and clients. Maintain accurate electronic records from which to integrate, store, and sort critical data. Manage project plans and work with management and technical teams to ensure insight, solution planning, and execution. Assists in monitoring performance and progress in company goals and objectives. Identify deficiencies in current technical working practices and recommend new and efficient changes and development. Work with the HR/Skills & Development Manager to implement training programs to upskill employees as well as policies or procedures that impact their jobs. The incumbent is also responsible to assist in solving problems that affect the department’s service, efficiency, and productivity. Manage the activities of subordinates. To consistently deliver the company's “Management Expectations” successfully across all key areas. Take the lead role in introducing ways of working changes. To take responsibility for the overall performance of the Service teams ensuring all SLAs and KPIs are delivered according to the contract and the client’s satisfaction. Highlight solutions in unsatisfactory areas. Identify new business opportunities to expand the company’s offerings or reach new markets. Implement long-range and immediate plans and objectives of the Technical Services Department. Set meaningful goals and objectives and agreed levels of performance of subordinates, reviewing progress at regular intervals. Motivate staff to respond to the pressure of work. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics, and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team. As the manager of the Technical Services Department, direct the team and provide leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Ensure that all activities are per corporate regulations and policies, code of conduct, and applicable law. Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and Company/Client Health and Safety practices and procedures. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Qualified Artisan (Diesel Fitter/ Mechanic/ Mechatronics). At least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in the Marine Industry is crucial.
