To drive, protect and enhance the Clicks brand by taking responsibility for ensuring all products comply with relevant legislation and meet local and international quality, health and safety requirements. Manage Quality, Safety & Legislation Manage the compilation of certification, tracking, submission and filing of documentation to comply with: South African Waste Management legislation Understand packaging formats and manage the compilation of tracking documents for these formats into an approved, confirmed and auditable format to manage packaging compliance with the National Waste Management Act EPR-18. Lead regulatory change – to manage new legislative requirements into the categories, communicate and ensure total compliance of this within packaging developments Data capturing of all relevant documents into regulatory system accurately and timeously. Implementing and auditing packaging materials, information and Producer Responsibility organisations. Implementing packaging strategy aligned to internal processes, costs, artwork concept and landing on time; e.g. removing unrecyclable packaging from product and implementing recyclable packaging through support of the NPD team within their development plans to ensure quality, safety and compliance across all PL development by adhering to legislation and NPD approval processes to protect the brand reputation and financial impact on the business Utilise the regulatory system to ensure correct administration of documents, information and compliance to regulation. Report and feedback timeously. Work closely with packaging technologists to ensure strategy is implemented correctly and timeously. Research new formats and trends and understand and confirm their recyclability within South Africa. Implement strategy aligned to Design for Recyclability guidelines. Manage relevant technical information to enable final sign off of projects for product and packaging compliance Lead technical and packaging innovation To interface with product suppliers, brand development, product developers, packaging suppliers and printers in order to drive consumer focused innovative and optimized packaging solutions. To work on multiple projects simultaneously. To clearly communicate and negotiate with Clicks product and packaging suppliers to enable project progression in the most time efficient manner. Ensure all company policies, consumer legislation, packaging (labelling) legislation, waste & environmental legislation is adhered to Education: Essential: Packaging Diploma Job Related Knowledge: Essential: Minimum 3 years practical knowledge with packaging formats in either a packaging production facility or packaging auditing environment. Experience with management of packaging information. Understanding of packaging types, formats, breakdowns and recyclability within SA. A thorough knowledge of all packaging materials, processes & formats Understanding and implementation of the labelling laws & the CPA In-depth understanding of design & DTP processes Understanding and experience of identifying and the implementation of cost saving projects In-depth knowledge of packaging design processes Understanding of global & BRC standards Understanding of printing & manufacturing environment Knowledge of GS1 standards Skills: Excellent planning and organisational skills Ability to work on multiple projects and across teams Intermediate knowledge of product packaging Computer literacy – Word, Excel level 2, Outlook and Power Point Administration skills Project management skills Quality orientated Good verbal and written communication skills Competencies: Essential: Leading and Deciding Supporting and Cooperating Interaction and Presenting Analysing and Interpreting Creating and Conceptualising Organising and Executing Adapting and Coping Critical Path Management General To actively demonstrate the Clicks values in day to day activities
