The project company, CPV1 Power Plant, is seeking an experienced and technically competent Tracker Technician to assist with the inspection, operation, supervision, and safety of the power plant facility and field personnel and to; Support the Team Leader in managing spare parts; Support the Team Leader in developing documentation for CPV systems on-site; Support the Team Leader in additional tasks when required; Assist the electrical team when required; Assist with environmental tasks such as snake handling duties as needed; Create an aspiring team environment with an open communication culture; Assist in the operation, maintenance, co-ordination, and supervision of the overall O&M functions of the electro-mechanical system and SCADA monitoring of the plant; Assist in the planning and scheduling of all resources required to deliver timeous execution of operation and maintenance activities. This will include parts, tools, and labour required to ensure that the daily work orders are completed in a timely manner as well as in accordance with O&M procedures and guidelines; Assist in ensuring that the team works safely and are complying with appropriate risk assessments and permits to work. Operations and Maintenance Responsible for operations and (reactive & preventive) maintenance of CPV Systems and other plant equipment on site to ensure the highest possible availability. Assists in the diagnostics & repairs of CPV Systems. Assist in the compilation of and implementing work schedules for the electro-mechanical personnel. Assists in ensuring that work orders are review and executed, and that material and equipment is available. Creating maintenance schedules and switching procedures. Assists in the testing of electro-mechanical plant (such insulation resistance testing, voltage ratio testing, earth electrode measurement). Updates a database of equipment to record and track maintenance and repair history. Assists in report compilation of operational and maintenance activities and incidents. Arranges preparation of Risk Assessments and work permits in accordance with statutory requirements. Actively participates in safety initiatives and promote safety awareness and accident prevention. Health and Safety Assists in the overall safe operations and maintenance of all electro-mechanical plant. Maintains Health and Safety standards as per the Operator’s Health and Safety policies. Ensures that all employees, visitors, and contractors are working in a safe manner; Reports any unsafe equipment, acts, or dangerous occurrences. Other Flexibility for this role is necessary, with the ability to accommodate flexible working hours, should specific problems or business requirements dictate. The Tracker Technician will report directly to the Team Leader. This role is based at site, Touwsriver, Western Cape. Requirements Certificate in electrical, or equivalent qualification or the equivalent experience in the field Registered Electrician Trade Certification Experience with Electrical and Mechanical maintenance and repairs• At least two years relevant experience in the electrical trade An adequate knowledge base of the installation, operating, and fault finding of LV (dc and ac) and MV electro-mechanical/mechanical primary equipment and gear. Comprehensive knowledge of LV and MV switchgear, transformers, and cables is essential. Prior experience with high voltage (132 kV) equipment operation and maintenance will be useful. Thorough understanding of O&M practices for renewable energy power plants from an electro-mechanical works perspective (Concentrator photovoltaics) is a necessity. Apply Now
