Turner Machinist - South Africa
TURNER MACHINIST – SA STEELWORKS AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN The Machine Shop Department currently has a Turner Machinist role available for a hardworking, dedicated individual to join their team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Examine detailed drawings or specifications to establish job, material and equipment requirements Perform routine and preventative maintenance practices on existing equipment Ability to strip, examine and identify mechanical defects on equipment under repair Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling and or shaping Slotting or drilling metal stock or components Ensuring that the quality of work is up to the required standards Fit and assemble metal parts and tools or sub- assemblies Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act Qualifying Criteria Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent Approved and recognized Trade Test qualification ( Turner machinist ) Minimum of 5 plus years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry Extensive knowledge of power tools Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit) Good hand-eye coordination Hands on practical approach to the job Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules Ability to work under challenging conditions Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English) Must be prepared to work overtime when required Qualifying Attributes: Hard working and self-motivated Time management and organizational skills Display a professional work approach Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Logical and detail orientated Excellent standards in execution Commitment to a strong business ethic and integrity Type Permanent Benefits include Provident fund Group life Funeral cover 15 working days leave per annum Standard hours 07:30 – 17:00 Monday - Thursday 07:30 – 16:00 Fridays May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements
