Intellectual disability is one of the most overlooked disabilities in South Africa. The Western Cape Forum for Intellectual Disability (WCFID) has, since its inception in 1971, played a pivotal role in the development of skills, knowledge and the advancement of rights within the intellectual disability sector. Job Title: Survey Administrator/Research Assistant Job Location: Cape Town Job Type : a 4-month part-time contract post (20 hrs per week, mornings, with flexibility). The position is suitable for a post-graduate student with an interest in community development and research. Established in 1971, the Forum is a support network for service providers in the field of intellectual disability and based in Maitland. Requirements: Degree in Health Sciences/Education/Social Science Training and experience in research Requirements: Degree in Health Sciences/Education/Social Science Training and experience in research 5 years work experience, preferably in social development/health/education research/disability studies Strong computer literacy, data collection, analysis and report writing skills Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with community-based NGOs Research experience with an ability to put across complex issues in simple, understandable language An ability to work independently and within a team Ability and willingness to travel within the Western Cape Fluency in English and isiXhosa (Afrikaans would be an advantage), spoken and written Driver’s license Able to start by February 2019.
