The scope of responsibilities of the successful Workshop Technical Manager applicant will cover all workshop areas ( Mechanics, Trailers, Repair Shop, Panel Beating, Electricians, Welder, Oil, Paint, Washbay and Workshop Administration Departments,) within the company, overseeing and developing each area and managing the human resources, to guarantee the efficiency and quality of service within the Company, for the fleet. Performing scheduled checks on the fleet , ensuring vehicle service plan are in place. Assist and advise management on disposal of assets whether selling, scrapping and/or write off. Ensure all assets are kept in sterling condition and safe good working order. Ensure maintenance, servicing and roadworthiness of all vehicles are attended to on time within agreed standards. Ensuring regular servicing and maintenance of the fleet including scales/weighbridge and the calibration of these. Assist to maintain and manage all data and records of the fleet in FMS. A dvising which vehicle should move between fleets and ensuring the physical vehicle matches with the FMS record. Assigning work areas and tasks to subordinates and ensuring the timely completion . Maintaining awareness levels of all workshop employees regarding the health and safety regulations in the workplace . Developing and complying with all HSES regulations for all work processes in the workshop area . De veloping anti-theft measures and assuming full responsibility for all tools, spare parts, diesel, etc Ensuring appropriate usage and handling of testing tools and repair equipment. Test driving (in case no special license required) vehicles to ensur ing all are functioning appropriately. Adhering to all standard operating procedures (SOP) provided by the manufacturer of the machine/vehicle or its agent. Always establish and maintain a strong and professional working relationship and an open communication channel with Operations and Legal departments, ensur ing availability to assist whenever required, particularly on accident evaluations, quotations, and all driver and/or workshop deductions relating to misuse or damage of equipment . Work together with Operations department on Drivers roll on reducing number of accidents and maintenance costs. Liaise with Documentation department to receive a list of all expiring VID's. Do a vehicle pre check , ensur ing all in order and assigns workshop representative to take the vehicle to the Government Vehicle Inspection Department and go through the process of inspection. Following FMS stores procedures en sur ing filled job orders are always kept up to date. Managing pro-actively the availability of spare parts with the goal to reduce unscheduled downtime of the fleet to 30 minutes. Ensure all spares' requirements are communicated to Stores department, to ensure th e stores carry sufficient stock to minimize vehicle down time and that any extraordinary repairs are planned for in advance (where possible) Provide detailed information to Stores & Procurement about spares needs, to ensure all spares purchased meet manufacturers and company specifications. Assists tyre department in maintaining the standard of the retreated tyres and tyres. Using expertise to ensure the tyre is technically sound. Controls fuel consumption on trucks based on E-check Assistant reports. Take responsibility for your work area and always ensure a professional working environment and cleanliness. HR MANAGEMENT: Manage, supervise, support, and develop Workshop team, ensuring a high level of motivation, discipline and morale is always maintained. Ensure all new employees are hired within the guidelines of recruitment policy , trained, and educated according to C ompany standards and safety requirements. Ensure attendance is regular and report any irregular situation to HR and/or Legal departments, to take corrective actions and/or Disciplinary processes in line with company policies and labour law. Ensure and report any employee assigned to assist outside the workplace (i.e., breakdowns, port incidents, etc), to keep time records with the regulations in force and to ensure effective breakdown management. Ensure that all workshop accidents are reported and investigated with the regulations in force and liaise with the legal team. Educational background: Degree in Mechanical Engineer or other Technical Mechanic background with (minimum/maximum): 5 - 8 years experience, preferably in Transports, managing a medium/large workshop. Diploma in Mechanical Engineer or other Technical Mechanic background >10 years' experience, preferably in Transports, managing a medium/large workshop. Preferred industries: Transport Mining Successful candidate must have g ood understanding of Business and Business Needs. Technical Skills : G ood knowledge of Microsoft Office products (word; excel) CRM system, preferably FMS Time availability: willingness to work nights and weekends as per workload To be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
