Job Summary:
As a Yard Supervisor in the tyre industry, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of the yard or warehouse area at a tyre facility. This role involves managing inventory, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, supervising yard personnel, and ensuring efficient workflow. The Yard Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment, optimizing yard layout and organization, and supporting overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Yard Operations Management:
- Supervise day-to-day operations in the yard, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of tyre products and related materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to prioritize and schedule inbound and outbound shipments, including loading and unloading activities.
Inventory Control:
- Oversee inventory management processes, including stock counting, reconciliation, and cycle counting to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and stock rotation to minimize stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of yard inventory to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate yard personnel, including forklift operators, yard hands, and maintenance staff.
- Delegate tasks, assign responsibilities, and provide guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Foster a positive work culture by promoting teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols among yard staff.
Equipment Maintenance and Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of yard equipment, such as forklifts, loaders, and conveyors, to ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance tasks and address equipment breakdowns or malfunctions promptly.
- Monitor facility cleanliness, organization, and compliance with environmental regulations to maintain a clean and orderly yard area.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement quality control procedures to inspect incoming and outgoing tyre products for defects, damage, or discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements for product handling, storage, and transportation.
- Investigate and resolve any quality or compliance issues, coordinating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in yard operations, warehouse management, or logistics, preferably in the tyre industry or automotive sector.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in operating yard equipment, such as forklifts and loaders, and knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
