You have a job, even when you don’t

August 11, 2017 in Advice & Tips

Looking for a job is not easy. It’s something many people struggle with, often for extended periods of time. It’s not only physically exhausting, but it’s also mentally and emotionally draining.

Unemployed people spend hours a day looking a job, but most times it’s done when they feel like it, or when it’s convenient. This is the first mistake when seeking employment.

When you’re looking for work, you have a job: You job is to find a job. You should work a full day, every single day, just as you would in a regular job.

Your time should not be confined to sending our CVs randomly, although that should be part of your daily routine. Consider having a daily schedule of:

  • Creatively improving your CV
  • Sending out your CV to prospective employees
  • Following up on leads
  • Registering on Joblife (of course!)
  • Studying the market and industry
  • Designing a career map

Your future is dependent on how much work you put into it. It’s up to you!
