Account Manager - Johannesburg

Our awesome client is on the lookout for an experienced Account Manager / Broker to join their Renewable Energy team within the insurance industry.

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF JOB: Provision of account management services for an allocated portfolio of clients. To aid in the overall service provision to clients ensuring that the business is retained and developed.


DUTIES – PLANNING & OPERATIONS
Time Management:

  • Understand the Client expectations of your portfolio of clients always and ensure that these expectations are met or managed.
  • Understand the requirements and expectations of your Reporting Line in respect of output and turnaround time of reports.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provision of the day-to-day servicing of a client’s insurance programme to support retention and development of the business. Placement of insurances for clients in accordance with policies, procedures, and minimum service standards.
  • Effective and timely management of all renewals to ensure completion by the due date. Obtain quotations both for new and renewal business.
  • Preparation of market and client documentation.
  • Check policy documentation for accuracy prior to issue to the client.
  • Provision to the client of policy documentation in accordance with regulations and in line with Lockton procedures.
  • Deal effectively (and to the satisfaction of the client and the market) with queries, including but not limited to changes in cover and risk. Prompt and accurate resolution of accounts queries.
  • Identify the risk exposures and advise on insurance and risk management solutions in consultation with the Account Director. Provision of management information as required.
  • Manage and coordinate global insurance programmes and liaise with our producer network worldwide, if applicable.
  • Ensure accounts debited and clients invoiced timeously.


Competencies:

  • Willingness and ability to continue to develop knowledge through formal and informal learning, both internal and external to the company.
  • Knowledge of the resources available within Lockton and how to source such services.
  • An understanding of the relevant classes of business.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for business development.
  • An understanding of Lockton cash collection processes including but not limited to general insurance accounting and client invoicing.
  • An understanding of the general, Legal principles of insurance.
  • An Understanding of insurer rating methods for each class of insurance.
  • An understanding of risk management concepts and when these are useful to clients.
  • An understanding of insurer products and specialisms.
  • Ability to broke and service the insurance needs of clients.
  • Ability to prepare a broking presentation that accurately reflects the cover required and meets the clients' demands and needs.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret claims experiences and analysis including claims triangulations and the impact of deductibles and cover variations.
  • Experience in marketing and servicing the insurance needs of clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing with clients, insurers and other associates.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise and ensure that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including research and investigation.
  • Ability build and maintain good business relationships with clients, insurers and associates.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of when to proceed alone and when to involve the appropriate associates.
  • Effective delegation as appropriate.
  • Presentation skills in both preparation and execution.
  • Professional and tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives.
  • An understanding of regulatory controls and procedures relating to both commercial and retail customers, if applicable.
  • An understanding of and adherence to Lockton standards and procedures.
  • Refer all client complaints to your Reporting Line to register on the Complaints register (via Office Administrator) in terms of FAIS requirements.
  • Ensuring Fit & Proper requirements are up to date in accordance with FAIS-CPD hours, Continuous training etc.
  • Knowledge of the computer desktop software provided by Lockton.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar software applications.
  • Effective delegation as appropriate.


Relationship Management:

  • Develop positive relationships with insurers/markets.
  • Make an effort to accept reasonable invitations and attend functions which will assist with relationship development.
  • Maintaining a professional image in the industry is key and must be considered at all client functions.
