Accountant - Stellenbosch
Start date: 1 November 2023 (or sooner if available immediately) Place of work: Stellenbosch, South Africa Reporting to: Consolidation Accountant A fast-growing financial technology company operating in South Africa and African countries whom delivers personal lending products through online, mobile phone and branch channels. The company is well supported by strong shareholders and a board of directors with vast experience in entrepreneurship and lending. The role is within the Our Africa Finance team. The position is ideal for a qualified finance individual with limited experience but eagerness to grow. The position will expose the candidate to all areas of the business. The ideal candidate must balance diligence in monthly bookkeeping with curiosity to learn about the business at large. Responsibilities 1. Financial accounting and reporting ? Monthly processing of accounting transactions in Xero for WE Africa (group separate ? holding company) ? Manage supplier payments ? Intercompany billing and management of customers ledger ? Prepare monthly intercompany and shareholders’ loan schedules ? Maintain the fixed asset register and lead annual physical verification exercise ? h. Update income tax and deferred tax computations ? Send out monthly currency sheet ? j. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations ? k. Prepare monthly management accounts ? l. Prepare monthly cashflow forecast ? m. Prepare annual budget ? n. Support subsidiary accountants ? o. Ensure all accounting records are maintained in accordance with IFRS and group ? accounting policy 2. Statutory returns ? Prepare and file monthly VAT 201 return ? Prepare and file monthly EMP201 return ? Prepare bi-annual EMP501 returns 3. Other ? Respond to internal audit queries ? Prepare all external audit documentation required ? Prepare notes to Annual Financial Statements ? Monitor accounts email inbox ? Liase with banks for updates of banking/card details ? Deal with SARS disputes Minimum requirements ? Accounting degree / Cima qualified ? Working knowledge of IFRS ? 3 years SAIPA articles preferred ? Commercial experience required ? Good knowledge of Xero/Fathom would be advantageous ? Good MS Excel skills ? Attention to detail ? Ability to meet deadlines ? South African resident ? Willingness to work hard when required ? Generally roll with the punches of a growing company
