Our client, a national manufacturing company which is growing substantially, seeks your accounting knowledge and ability to ensure accounting requirements are carried out to the required level. Purpose of the Role: The company is in the process of installing a new Material Resource Program (MRP system). This installation will require input from the accounting, costing and reporting perspective to ensure that it will provide accurate and meaningful information to management. In order to do this, you will need to have knowledge of and the ability to understand and co-ordinate an accounting system so that: The usage and cost of categories of material are accurately recorded and reported. The accuracy of the reports of the cost of sales of products manufactured can be monitored and tested to ensure that they are correct. That all other aspects of reporting from the accounting system are accurate and meaningful. Areas of Responsibility: General Ledger Management: Ensure that balance sheet accounts are correct by reconciling them and correcting all errors. Manage the general ledger. Monthly Management Reporting: Prepare the monthly management accounts which comprise, amongst others, the Balance Sheet and the Income Statement. Provide analysis of the financial position of the company according to the management accounts. Produce a cash flow statement that reports the historical acquisition of cash and its usage. Ensure that all accounting and regulatory requirements are complied with. Cash Flow Forecast: Prepare a cash flow forecast every month, which forecasts cash movement for the ensuing twelve months. Detailed forecast for the first month, where cash shortfalls are identified and means prepared to work through them. Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted figures. Provide insights and analysis on budget variances. Audit Support: Prepare the required documents and reports to facilitate the statutory audit. Implement recommendations from audit reports. Financial Analysis: Analyse financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Prepare financial reports and summaries for management decision-making. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file various tax returns. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Provide support during tax audits. Cost Accounting: Monitor and test the reports from the MRP system and test to ensure they are correct. Be involved with the installation and implementation of the MRP system. Assist in cost control measures. Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets. Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures. Financial Software and Systems: Utilise and maintain financial software systems. Stay updated on advancement in accounting technology.
