Accountant (Small and Medium Business) - South Africa

Our client, an Accounting, Tax and Business Advisory firm, is looking for an SMME Business Accountant who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and assist clients with full accounting services, which will include accounting, payroll, and tax. Duties and responsibilities include: Preparing financial statements and tax forms for your clients Preparing financial statements such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for businesses Preparing budgets and analyzing financial data related to budgets for accuracy and usefulness Reviewing accounting records and preparing financial statements for your clients Consulting with clients about tax issues and preparing tax returns for individuals or businesses Reviewing financial statements and providing recommendations to senior management regarding financial decisions Assisting with bookkeeping activities such as maintaining records of accounts receivable and payable, and making payroll deposits Compiling data and analyzing financial trends to identify potential problems within a business Complying with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Implementing statutory applications and resolves queries through preparation of documentation and application for different tax types – VAT, PAYE, Income Tax. Preparing and accurately submits annual returns, and AFS in accordance to GAAP / IFRS. Performing secretarial and administrative duties such as ensuring clients are registered with CIPC, UIF and COIDA. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. To be successful, you will need to meet the following criteria: A completed accounting degree with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role working in a consulting firm providing accounting and tax advisory services Experience working on accounting systems such as SAGE or similar systems is a must The ability to work independently with minimal supervision Enjoy what you do and always try and add value through your work.
