Task and Responsibilities: Assist with management of accounts payable (i.e., processing invoices, payments and reconciliation of accounts etc.) Assist with management of accounts receivable (i.e., distribution of statements, following up on outstanding invoices, processing remittances, reconciliations etc.) Assist with cash flow management function and processing (i.e., bank, petty cash and cash flow forecasts) Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information UIF application and correspondence Workman’s compensation applications and correspondence Annual returns, correspondence with CIPRO, and company registrations Document financial transactions by entering account information Recommends financial actions by analysing accounting options Preparation of information for and execution of monthly invoicing cycle and reconciliations Preparation of information for and execution of monthly payroll cycle and reconciliations Manage all tax-related matters i.e., Return preparation and submissions (For all entities and Tax Types) Registrations of all tax types Payroll taxes Customs and Excise VAT Tax Clearance Certificates/PINS and Status challenge of the compliance profile Submission of all the returns (EMP201, VAT201, IRP6, ITR14, IT14SD, ITR12, Dividends Tax (DTR02), Excise Returns (Limited) Preparation and Submission of EMP501 reconciliations Submission of IT14SD returns and Supporting documents Summarises current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, Trail balance, profit and loss statements, management accounts, and other reports. Preparation of working papers and year-end adjustments for Annual Financial Statements Preparation and submission of Notice of Objections and Notice of Appeals (All tax types) Capturing and processing of SARS deferments and compromises Suspension of Payments and Request for Remission Applications Correspondence and meetings with SARS officials as well as CMO Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations Tax Planning and Consultation Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information. Secures financial information by completing data base backups. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Bookkeeping Tax Debt Management (Section 200 Compromise and Deferment Applications) Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Accomplishes the result by performing the duty Develop, expand and manage team To expand the client base of the debt management department business and reach specified departmental milestones Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Ensure smooth operations of all department related matters Assist with strategic planning and execution Assist in the formulation of annual budgets and ad hoc financial forecasts Provide general support and assistance to the Chief Financial Officer on any other financial administration and related deliverables Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent knowledge on SARS e-filing as well as the SARS legal frameworks Must have knowledge in managing compromise and deferment process Computer processing skills, general accounting and bookkeeping training, record keeping practices and training, or related job experience of greater than two years in a similar position. Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately, including percentages, fractions, decimals, and simple mathematical formulae. Must be able to work on multiple clients/cases at once. Highly motivated with an ability to solve practical problems and follow written, verbal or other instructions with several concrete variables. Attention to detail and the ability to organize complex information neatly and accurately. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to compose original correspondence, write reports, have effective interaction with people, and communicate ideas, and receive and process information from others. Data entry skills together with hands-on experience of spreadsheet software. Self-directed with an ability to learn a systematic approach to accounting and to follow the approach without direction to maintain the integrity of the financial data. Ability to operate computer equipment, business equipment, and other general office equipment, including telephones and fax machines. Sound written and verbal communication skills Reliable and flexible individual Attention to detail Education and Formal Training: Degree in Financial Accounting/ Financial Management as recognized by SAQA or studying towards. Approximately 5 years of proven working experience in Finance and Accounting related fields (Articles may count toward experience) is desirable Experience with Quickbooks, Pastel accounting or VIP payroll packages (or similar) and current knowledge of all legislation associated with the preparation and maintenance of organizational financials.
