Africa Health Research Institute Current Job Opportunity – Apply Now - South Africa

AHRI is looking for three research assistants who will be based at our Somkhele site. The successful candidates will work within a COVID test and treat (COTeT) clinical trial under the CTU. The position will be based in our Durban site. Job Title: Clinic Research Assistant6 Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa Reference : DBN/CRA/013/2022JAN Contract Type: Contract 9 Months Salary: Market Related Job Summary: The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for the implementation of the study protocol – They will be the first point of contact with potential study participants within the community. The successful candidates will be expected to follow procedures according to study protocols and to provide high quality clinical support to participants and other clients. The role may require incumbent to work outside of normal hours, Public Holidays & Weekend as and when required by the study. S/He must be a resident and a member of a homestead from within the Population Intervention Programme Study Area (PIPSA). Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: 1. Senior certificate (Grade 12). 2. Must Possess a valid South African Code C1 driver’s license (will be required to take PDP driver’s license test) 3. Computer Literacy Certification (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 4. Fluent in English and IsiZulu Minimum Experience: 1. A minimum of 2 years research experience in a clinical setting (hospital/clinic based research) Knowledge and Abilities: 1. Ability to pay close attention to detail. 2. Basic counselling and interviewing skills 3. Good communication and interpersonal skills 4. Knowledge of and experience in TB infection, diagnosis, treatment and contact investigation. 5. Previous clinical research experience e.g. working in a clinical research project Advantageous: 1. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification 2. Ability to document information accurately and methodically 3. Knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulation and policies 4. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, flexible and a good team player. 5. Knowledge of TB disease diagnosis, treatment, and infection control procedures 6. Experience making home visits for research or clinical follow-up purposes. 7.
