Applications Specialist - Clinical Diagnostics - Johannesburg

Minimum requirements for the role:
  • The successful candidate must be a Clinical Medical Technologist with a speciality in haematology, coagulation, chemistry, histology and POC, (would consider a service technician with strong experience).
  • Must have a strong background in clinical diagnostics.
  • Must have a strong background in healthcare with good exposure to laboratories.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of in-vitro diagnostics, lateral flow technology, chemistry, haematology, flow cytometry and PCR testing.
  • Must have existing relationships with key opinion leaders in the healthcare field preferred.
  • Previous experience having worked as an applications specialist (or trainer in the laboratory) is preferred.
  • Must have hands-on experience using a variety of clinical pathology, histology, POC laboratory equipment and optimization of systems.
  • Must have extensive experience in training internal and external customers.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills including making impactful presentations and business proposals.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Successfully deliver business objectives and performance targets for the science product portfolio
  • Delivering application training and support to diagnostic customers based in South Africa, in line with the organizations vision and stakeholder objectives.
  • Setting, implementing and managing strategies that meet both internal and external customer demands.
  • Performing routine training and troubleshooting with customers on contract as well as per customer PO.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and working with the senior management team to implement and execute.
  • Managing new projects through close collaboration with management teams.
  • Pre-planning training and diaries to be kept up to date for increased efficiency.
  • Providing application support and training both internally and externally for all related products.
  • Serving as primary internal contact regarding problem definition and resolution for application queries.
  • Training of internal and external users as required.
  • Accompanying sales representatives on customer calls to provide technical and application support as requested.
  • Attending conferences where demo equipment is required to provide technical and application support.
  • Planning and execution of a systematic preventive maintenance program for equipment together with the end user.
  • Providing training and support to all users, assisting departments in capital equipment planning, assisting in identifying and recommending replacement of equipment that is obsolete, has extensive repair history, or has identified safety issues.
