A vacancy exists for a Artisan to join our Simonstown branch. Main Purpose of The Job: To enhance the operations and service delivery of the Tracking Radar in support of SAN requirements for the corrective/preventative maintenance, keeping logistical records and assists with training relevant to all Tracking Radar equipment. Ensure that compliance to the contractual requirements are met. Direct all work in your environment to meet contractual requirements for your environment. Perform C and D level Maintenance on all Tracker equipment as per corrective and preventative maintenance. Perform fault finding on all equipment installed and repair or replace the failed items. Identify problematic equipment and report it to the System Technician. Ensure that all repaired items confirm to the OEM prescribed performance specifications. Ensure that you are familiar with all the technical particulars of the equipment you are responsible to maintain and / or repair. Provide support during upgrade and repairs on site Report any accidents or incident immediately to the System Technician. Ensuring that all Communication equipment is available and calibrated (aligned) at all times. Removing any defective sub-system and replacing it with a serviceable unit. Repairing any defective Line Replacement Unit (LRU). INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT Checking system performance after a repair. Ensure that a SAN member is always present while performing various tasks on-board vessels Act as a mentor for trainees allocated to undergo practical training. Carry out all Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP's) on the completion of repaired equipment. Keep a fault identification log of all repairs done in order to be used for future references. Understudy the Communication System Technician in order that you will be able to carry out his duties in case of emergencies Ensure that maintenance activities in your environment are executed according to the requirements and schedules. Monitor activities in your environment to achieve compliance with company purpose, company policies, contract requirements and client expectations. Ensure that you submit your stores requisition, correctly and comprehensively filled out with all required information. Ensure that you follow up on the progress of your stores requisition. Report delayed stores requisitions to the System Technician. Ensure that you collect your equipment, tools, goods, etc. when advised to do so. Ensure that you sign when delivery and / or collections are done. Ensure that all equipment delivered to stores have been labelled with a serviceable tag or repairable tag indicating the fault found. Co-ordinate the demand of spares (Including OSIS requirements) and maintain strict control thereof. Ensure hours are booked correctly on SUSTINEO and on time. Ensure that the visitors log is filled out by yourself and all other persons upon entering and exiting of the workshop. Ensure that no task is performed without being in receipt of an official job card issued by System Technician. Maintain your flow of work in accordance with prescribed Policies and Procedures. Ensure that you implement ECP's as and when instructed. Maintain, update all documents and forms on the Vessels and workshop. Ensure Log Engineer is informed of any and all changes. Identify training requirements to correct technical shortcomings. Minimum Qualifications: N3 or Higher. Recognised Trade Test Certificate Experience And Special Skills Requirements: At least 4 years electronic equipment repair experience. Soldering and de-soldering of RF components, including surface mount components. Be able to do repairs to component level, depth D work. Strong fault-finding skills, and interpretation of schematics.
