We are currently seeking a meticulous and driven individual to join our client's finance team as an Assistant accountant. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of their financial processes and ensuring adherence to established controls. Role: Assistant Accountant Location: Western Cape, Gansbaai Salary: TBC The core responsibilities of the position will be the processing of transactions and ensuring adherence to financial controls throughout accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashbook, and general ledger transaction processing. Key tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Capturing customer and supplier invoices Reviewing sales invoices and supporting documentation Assisting debtors and creditors clerks with query resolution Compiling monthly consolidated sales report Compiling monthly debtors and creditors age analysis Capturing bank statements and reviewing monthly cashbook reconciliations Processing weekly and monthly payment requests Compiling and processing all intergroup invoices and journals Assisting with the compilation and processing of monthly accruals and general journals Reconciling monthly fixed asset transactions and compiling fixed asset register Assisting with capital project reconciliation Completing monthly VAT returns Collating monthly control account documentation Assisting with external and internal audit requests Assisting Accountant and GCFM with group reporting Technical Competencies: Proven experience with customer and supplier invoice processing Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures (IFRS) Knowledge of company tax and VAT regulations Proven experience working with Pastel, Syspro, Navision, or Business Central accounting packages will be advantageous Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Attention to detail and ability to draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material Ability to take responsibility and drive deliverables Work experience in manufacturing will be advantageous Minimum Requirements: Tertiary qualification in accounting Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position Must be a team player, with strong verbal and written communication skills Valid driver’s license and willing to travel
