Assistant Accountant - Cape Town Region
Assistant Accountant Waterfront Cape Town (8 months fixed term contract) Our Retail client in the Waterfront is looking for an Assistant Accountant for a 8-month fixed term contract period. Ideally to start immediately. You need at least 3-4 years of experience as an Assistant Accountant. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, maintenance, and completeness of all accounting records and related transactions. Salary Negotiable for a 8 months to start Immediate Min Requirements Matric or NQF equivalent- Diploma/certificate in accounting. 3-4 years plus experience in similar role. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process. knowledge of SAGE X3 would be an advantage, or at the minimum, knowledge of a similar ERP system. (SAP or SAGE) an advantage Proficient in Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel skills. Responsibilities: Accounting support Work closely with the accountant to ensure the smooth operation of all finance and accounting matters. Trial Balance Support the Accountant responsible for the company trial balance and ensure the accuracy and understanding of all general ledger accounts. Balance sheet reconciliations Responsible for the accurate, timely, and complete preparation of relevant balance sheet reconciliations. Company payments Assist with company payments and fulfill the role of 1st release on payments. Support for Month-end, Year-end process and statutory Reporting Assist with preparation of all statutory requirements (i.e.: VAT, Provisional tax, and income tax returns) including the accounting, Efiling maintenance, and payment thereof.
