Assistant Accountant / Accounting Assistant - Franschhoek
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our finance team as a Financial Accounts Assistant. This role is crucial in supporting our financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Key responsibilities:
Book keeping:
Assign transactions to specific accounts, allocate entries to ledger accounts; and amend entries at the end of each accounting period. Reconciliations of debtors and creditors and follow ups. Stock control and stock taking. Process stock takings. Assist in payroll entries.
Transaction Processing:
Record and process financial transactions, including invoices, expense reports, and payments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
Bank Reconciliation:
Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial statements.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable processes.
Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve billing and payment inquiries.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and generate financial reports for management review.
Summarise financial data, highlighting key trends and areas of concern.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations.
Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
Documentation and Filing:
Maintain organised and accurate financial documentation.
File and archive financial records in accordance with company policies.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other members of the finance team to achieve departmental goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial information.
