Assistant Accountant: Record to Report SSC - South Africa

JOB DESCRIPTION The Assistant Accountant within the Record to Report SSC function will support the Team Manager: R2R, with all day-to-day general banking processes for the trading and services divisions within TFG. Key Responsibilities: As part of a team of Assistant Accountants-Banking, this role will be responsible for the efficient and effective posting of bank journals, bank clearings, bank account processing, reconciliations, and assisting with all financial month end and year end activities. This role will be responsible for ensuring deliverables are achieved as per the time and quality standards agreed in the Record to Report SLAs. Process and perform bank processing and bank queries for all divisions. Process bank journals and journal adjustments for all divisions. Assist R2R Team Manager in bank reconciliations preparation and feedback for all divisions. Ensure accurate recordkeeping for all accounting and bank activities for audit purposes. Work alongside the Record to report teams to ensure all month end and year end processes are accurate and completed as per the agreed timelines and guidelines. Where required, escalated all requests and queries accurately and timeously to the Team Manager. Work closely with Group Treasury with all day-to-day general banking processes, bank account clearings and queries. Qualifications and Experience: National Diploma in Finance/Accounting or equivalent 2-5 years of relevant working experience SAP knowledge an advantage Skills: Reconciliation and Analysis Strong computer skills with good working knowledge Attention to detail Time management Planning skills Accounting and Reporting Auditing Cash Management Good time management Strong business communication skills with an ability to work well in a collaborative environment with senior executives Ability to draft commentary, analyse information to establish key messages, present information both visually and written Behaviours: Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, decision making, interpersonal relations, problem solving, teamwork & written communication. Comfortable and effective influencer. You need to be flexible as the environment is very dynamic and priorities can change.
