CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The Department of Psychology is looking for a qualified, experienced Research or Clinical or Counselling or Educational Psychologist, who is registered with the HPCSA as a Psychologist in independent practice. The incumbent must have expert knowledge in the field of psychology and will be expected to facilitate and administer the teaching and learning of students in modules that they will present. The person will be expected to do research, supervise undergraduate and post graduate students, contribute to community engagement and to professionally participate in the core functions of the Department and the University.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Leadership in facilitating learning and teaching, including e-learning,
• Development, revision and evaluation of learning, teaching and support materials,
• Provision of pastoral care, mentoring and clinical supervision,
• Provision of research supervision at post-graduate and doctoral levels,
  • Developing and managing individual and group research,
  • Carry out departmental and faculty administrative and management duties,
  • Involvement in community engagement.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Expert knowledge and grounding in the discipline of Psychology.
• Extensive experience in the facilitation of learning and teaching at under- and post-graduate levels.
• Sound IT knowledge and expertise in technology for blended learning.
• Clinical and research supervision of Honours, Masters and Doctoral students.
• Knowledge of program management and curriculum development.
• Experience in preparation of publications for journals and/or the preparation of presentations for national,

and international conferences.

POST REQUIREMENTS

• Doctoral degree in Psychology.
• Registration with the HPCSA as an independent Research or Clinical or Counselling or Educational Psychologist for a minimum of 3 years and currently active.
• Excellent knowledge base in the discipline of Psychology.
• 3 7 years relevant experience in an academic environment
• A track record of publications in accredited national and international journals
• A track record of presentations in national and international conferences
• Experience in research development and supervision of honours and masters projects and at least one completed co-supervision/supervision of a doctoral research project.
• Involvement in programme coordination and accreditation
• Emergent national reputation in the profession of Psychology
