Audit Lead CA (SA) - Johannesburg

Job Purpose: The primary goal of this role is to lead the development and maintenance of robust auditing and assurance standards. Your expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing audit quality, ensuring consistency, and aligning practices with global best standards. Duties/Functions: Standard Development: Spearhead the development and review of auditing and assurance standards, including the enhancement of industry-wide practices. Technical Expertise: Stay informed about emerging trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration with audit firms, professional bodies, and international standard-setting organizations. Policy Advocacy: Champion rigorous auditing practices and ethical conduct. Thought Leadership: Contribute to innovative ideas and insights in auditing standards. Qualifications and Experience: Chartered Accountant (SA) with extensive practical experience in an auditing environment. Proficiency in international and local quality, auditing, assurance, and ethics standards. Thorough understanding of legislation impacting auditors. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Desirable experience in standard setting and/or working in an auditing technical environment. Skills & Personal Attributes: Dedication to advancing public interest through the application of skills and values. Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, resources, and deadlines. Strong team player with demonstrated success in collaborative environments. Genuine interest and understanding of technical issues pertaining to auditors and audit firms. Proficient in technical writing and Microsoft Word. Attention to detail, including spelling and grammar. Technologically adept and adaptable. Effective facilitation, negotiation, and organizational skills. Assertive yet open-minded and consultative approach. Strong research and analytical abilities. Ability to handle pressure without compromising work quality. Capability to work independently and maintain focus. Desirable experience outside South Africa, particularly with foreign entities and alternate reporting frameworks. Job Requirements: Build and maintain professional relationships within the team and across relevant entities. Address technical inquiries from committees, task groups, practitioners, and the general public. Provide administrative support for committee meetings, including active participation and preparation of agenda papers. Conduct research on technical aspects, analyse information for projects, and stay updated on relevant standards and legislation. Draft or provide input on auditing and assurance standards, industry practices, and other pertinent information affecting auditors. Submit contributions to relevant bodies that are technically sound and of high quality.
