Job Title: Laboratory Technologist – Rustenburg Location: Rustenburg, North West, South Africa Reference : 2021/07/21/02 Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Market Related Work Description: The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies. The incumbent will regularly perform work at a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical Personnel . YOUR DUTIES WILL BE: Liaising with Stakeholders: Liaise with all Stakeholders when necessary towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental Goals Laboratory Systems and Procedures: Ensuring proper Infection Control by following laid down Procedures in the handling, processing, testing and storage of Specimens Receive, process and test specimens according to laid down procedures . Ensure that Results are transmitted timeously Calibrate, standardise and maintain Instruments according to Manufacturer Procedures Performing Quality Control to ensure proper functioning of Instruments, Reagents and Procedures Recognise Instrument malfunctions and out of control Test Results and take corrective action Preparing Reagents and Control according to prescribed Procedures Shipping of specimens in accordance with laid down procedures General Administration: Compiling of Laboratory Statistics Ordering of Laboratory Stock Checking of outstanding Results Maintaining inventory of Laboratory Equipment Validating and reporting Results of Tests performed Checking and reviewing of Results produced by the Laboratory Checking and reviewing of Results from Outsourced Laboratories handing them to the Clinic Responsible for preparation of Laboratory Audits Human Capital Management: Participate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental and Company Goals Company Strategic Intent: Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed Procedures and Legislation Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources Adhere and maintain Decision making authority as allocated to the position Requirements: YOU SHOULD HAVE: Education: National Diploma in Biomedical Technology ( NQF Level 6) or Bachelor of technology in biomedical technology Advantageous : Registration with HPCSA as a medical technologist GCP and GCLP Training Experience: At least 3 years Laboratory Testing and processing experience At least 1 year Clinical Research experience Skill And Achievement Required: Proficient computer literacy skills including Electronic Mail. SA Citizen or valid Work Permit to work in South Africa Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required Willing to work overtime Kindly provide current and relevant references for background checks All appointments are subject to the preferred candidates obtaining the necessary security clearance, reference checking and competency assessment.
