We are an end of the line packaging machinery manufacturing company searching for an experienced Automation Engineer with at least 5 years of experience and a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, or mechatronics. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and testing automated equipment and processes to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities include programming, debugging, and modifying PLCs, Robotics, and other control systems. This role will also involve HMI application development and testing, onsite installation and commissioning of new systems, troubleshooting existing installations remotely or in the field, and assist creating operating manuals, and providing training for users. You must have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software areas, as well as have experience in configuration, programming, and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives and safety devices. Preferred experience in robotics (Yaskawa and Kawasaki) is also desired. The successful individual will be responsible for Design and development of Software on various platforms. Software Development in accordance with the clients' specifications. FAT, Commissioning and Handover. Adherence to Health and Safety Requirements. Assist the Electrical Department with the creation and updating of drawings for construction of the physical components of electrical and automation systems. Contribute to the building of a continuous improvement environment and ongoing functional activities. Responsible for PLC , VSD, Robotic and HMI programming and backups (Including Networking and integration of all industrial equipment.). Responsible for remote or onsite support on breakdowns when required. Responsible for Installation, diagnostics and repair of all industrial hardware related components. Aiding in the design and functioning of new machines. Attend frequent, formal meetings with electrical/design/mechanical teams to ensure outputs continually satisfy design goals. Responsible for planning and scheduling electrical systems upgrades/improvements and coordinate with electrical/design/maintenance teams. Occasionally required to work overtime. National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics. 5 years' experience in a similar role. Siemens TIA Portal experience is essential (PLC and HMI). Proficient in PLC (Siemens / Delta / Omron / Allen Bradley). Yaskawa or Kawasaki Robotics experience will be advantageous. Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment. Time Management. High Level of Motivation. Attention to Detail. Work well under pressure. Willing to Travel (local and international). Valid Driver License. Valid Passport. Ability to fault find and troubleshoot.
