RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare for an In-Process Inspection;
- Ensure the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint and sealing duties;
- Mix and apply different primers based on the specified thickness criteria (epoxy, waterborne, zinc chromate);
- Mix and apply various topcoat finishes including stripping and other detail working;
- Utilise stencils and masking aids to apply markings accurately on the designated part;
- Operate and comprehend MIL specifications, intricate blueprints, fabrication and assembly outlines, sketches, patterns, as well as written or verbal directives;
- Establish, maintain, and operate standard shop equipment;
- Execute tasks in environments sensitive to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and maintain awareness accordingly;
- Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free from FODs;
- Remove corrosion products using approved tools, equipment and techniques;
- Install sealant where required;
- Apply primer and topcoat where required;
- Examine, execute touch-ups, and polish painted surfaces during the inspection process;
- Communicate efficiently and collaborate with management, colleagues from different departments, and fellow co-workers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12;
- Certification in aircraft painting;
- Minimum of 5 years aviation painting experience;
- Knowledge of preparing aircraft and/or component parts by performing surface preparation tasks prior to application of primer and topcoat;
- Must have basic knowledge pulling maintenance manuals / IPCs from a computer.
