A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, beverages, and snacks, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting environment. Key Responsibilities: Coffee and Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve coffee drinks and other beverages according to recipes and customer preferences.
- Operate coffee brewing equipment, espresso machines, and grinders.
- Steam and froth milk for beverages such as lattes and cappuccinos.
- Ensure the proper calibration and maintenance of coffee equipment.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Provide product recommendations and answer customer inquiries about the menu.
- Handle customer complaints or issues in a polite and effective manner.
Food Handling:
- Prepare and serve light snacks, pastries, and other food items.
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
Cleanliness and Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the counter, equipment, and seating areas.
- Regularly clean and sanitize equipment and utensils.
- Restock supplies as needed, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and condiments.
Cash Handling:
- Process customer payments accurately using a POS (Point of Sale) system.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions, ensuring correct change is given.
- Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
Team Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively with other staff members to ensure efficient service.
- Communicate effectively with the team and management.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a coffee shop, café, or similar environment is preferred but not required.
