To produce adequate, constant pressure Steam and Instrument air in order to supply all users. To operate the Odour incineration plant. Maintain, repair and optimise plant to ensure maximum equipment availability and product quality at the lowest possible cost. Sustainability · Application of technical skills considers safety, health, environment and community awareness and goals Boiler Operation · Operates and adjust boiler settings to achieve maximum throughput · Execute proper shut down and ensure correct start up procedures are followed. · Maintains maximum boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading and interpreting gauges, indicators and steam flow meters · Maintains complete combustion through monitoring and adjustment of operating parameters · Liase with Maintenance Manager on incidents or actions that would result in not achieving daily plan. · Monitor process in the field on continuous basis. · Does troubleshooting to uncover source of problems that affects rate of steam production · Implement corrective actions on deviations and plant upsets Health and Safety and Equipment Care · Ensure correct care and safe use of equipment in the field Monitoring · Maintains various records and reports relative to steam plant operations · Ensure correct conditions and parameters in the plant during steam production · Ensure proper plant cleaning. · Perform proper housekeeping. · Check and report any faulty equipment to the Maintenance Manager. · Adhere to environmental standards. · Adhere to EQR policy Co – Worker Effectiveness · Do frequent field checks and plant inspections. · Ensures that coal, ash and water samples are taken · Perform routine analysis on samples. · Interpret coal, ash, and water reports and take corrective action and inform relevant Manager if necessary. · Capture Data and logging of events Technical Competencies · Basic chemistry · Numeracy and statically analysis · Potential Problem Analysis · Test equipment and hand tools · Fabrication · Grinding & Cutting Qualifications Matric N3 mechanical engineering or equivalent Considerable experience in the maintenance and operation of steam boilers or any equivalent combination of training experiences Boiler Operator certificate
