An industrial property development Company is looking for a Utility Bookkeeper that is highly proficient and experienced in utility management and utility accounting. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for performing the financial and administrative duties associated with the provision of municipal utilities and services. Opening electricity and water accounts for new buildings Prepare monthly and bi-monthly utility bills and other related bills and notices Initiates and performs the billing process of water, sewer, storm water and concrete charges billed by the City. Compiles data and runs or develops regular and special reports as required. Reviews data for completeness and accuracy. Resolves conflicts. Investigates variances. Attempts to find resolution and information required for course of action taken. Processes new or cancelled accounts, meter changes, or other similar utility billing activities as required Serves as key liaison with Municpality and the Company Works with recoveries from tenants. Makes necessary adjustments to the utility accounts. Notifies proper personnel. Tracks status. Monthly Analysis of all Utility Bills Monitor Consumptions Ensure recoveries from tenants Oversee all deposits paid to Ethekwini Report on monthly billings and recoveries Ensure monthly water and electricity readings are taken on time Monthly schedules of all recoveries. Updating lease schedules with any amendments Insurance Schedules and related administration Tenanted repairs and maintenance of buildings Attending to rates queries with municipality, maintaining rates expense and recovery schedules. Review Watch dog report monthly from PEC Handle and manage all PEC correspondence Fully accountable for the utility role Required to conduct both site visits and Municipality visits Perform high level bookkeeping functions A minimum of 5 years bookkeeping experience Sound knowlegde of utility function Qualifications and knowledge: Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping is mandatory Knowledge of standard bookkeeping practises and pricinples Understanding of Council billing practices and procedures Records management and historical record keeping Skills: Excellent IT package skills - strong skills needed to work with the automated billing system features, PEC Utility Management Program and its functions. Strong written and verbal skills Good analytical skills needed to read, print, understand, analyze, remediate and explain information that is system generated Strong mathematical skills required to pro-rate billings.
