Brunel Energy South Africa recruits Senior Coal Geologist Through a network of 35 offices in 5 continents (Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia) we currently second nearly 4,000 Technical Engineering Specialists to the largest multi-national Oil & Gas Companies and major EPC Contractors, through well established global supply agreements. Organisation Client is a dynamic and global company that unlocks the value in its resources by using its unique UCG process to convert coal into cost effective syngas as feedstock for its modular UCG to GTL liquid fuels production in an environmentally sustainable manner so as to provide wealth and energy independence for future generations. Job description •Lead development of UCG and energy site selection and characterization utilizing best practice guidelines and coal geological knowledge and working with internal and external stakeholders •Develop and execute site evaluation analysis programs for potential UCG project sites •Coordinate sample analysis and geophysical mapping studies for project assessments and provide interpretation of results •Schedule and plan work activities and resource utilisation to achieve required outcomes •Provide reports, analysis and advice to technical colleagues and manag Qualifications/Competencies/Skills •Tertiary qualification in Geology (coal geology is the preferential qualification, but other hydrocarbon geology may suffice depending on candidate’s relevant experience) Job requirements Experience •Minimum 5 years Coal Geology experience – preferentially experience must have been obtained across Southern Africa coal areas (but South Africa as a minimum) •Demonstrated field experience •Coal exploration and resource utilization, development and implementation •Experience/interest in UCG is significant advantageement on a regular basis •Provide leadership in coal geology research programs for national and international exploration projects •Assist in geomechanical/subsidence modeling and monitoring •Develop understanding of the role of rock mechanics and hydrogeology in relation to UCG design and operation •Contribute to conceptual and commercial UCG gasifier site positioning and design •Manage contractors for geology related work programs including drilling, geophysical data collection, core collection and analysis, and cavity mapping •Manage research and technology projects in the geology discipline •Contribute to development of shared learning in the geology discipline across Client’s global offices •Aid business development and technology teams to assess new UCG and energy sites globally •Assist Client & Exploration Team with conventional coal exploration and assessment Click here to Apply Online for this Position Apply Now
