Mission: The Business Development (BD) Manager will use project management competency, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, to initiate renewable (wind and solar PV) projects and develop a pipeline of new projects through to execution. He or she will oversee all aspects of the BD process, from inception to delivery of the projects to the Engineering and Construction Department and/or Operations & Maintenance Department. Responsibilities: Identifies tender opportunities to secure Power Purchase agreement with industrial/mining companies or private corporations Assists in managing procurement (RFP) process, bid preparation and co-ordination to ensure compliant bids. Proactively manages proposals (RFPs) and tender responses, assessing the inputs to the financial model. Leads due diligence of prospective wind and/or solar development project acquisitions to determine project feasibility and give support in the negotiation processes. Prepares economic proposals/offers for projects. Manages relationships with critical stakeholders and partners across private and public sectors. Negotiates contracts and supports the transition from client acquisition to project delivery phase. Maintains the registration and monitoring of the projects' progress on internal sales platforms. Documents and administers all project-related information and provides support to the Business Development team on projects at different stages of the project lifecycle. Effectively engages with internal and external stakeholders, including engagement with contractors and local delegates Participates in developing annual business development plans. Prepares quarterly forecasts and monthly reports. Gives input into go/no-go bid decisions. Represents the company at industry events. Undertakes project permitting and approval processes as regulated by the different governmental departments. Adheres to all relevant regulatory and business practices. Required Skills and Competencies Degrees/Training: A degree in engineering / commerce / business administration A post-graduate course in Project Management would be advantageous Additional: Very good understanding of and demonstrable experience in renewable energy project development processes, including bringing at least two projects to financial close Very good understanding of the typical bid requirements for the renewable energy industry and financial close process Ideally, experienced in private PPA markets Must have a proactive approach Excellent negotiation skills Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal skills Valid driver's license Clear criminal record Clear credit record Must be able to travel within South Africa and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa and abroad from time-to-time. Language/Level: Highly proficient in business English Years/Areas of experience: At least 8 years of business development experience, with demonstrated contribution to success.
