Business Development Manager - Johannesburg

The business development manager will be responsible for a set target in project sales. Solutions provided to clients can vary from standardised packages, specialty membrane applications to biological treatment solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate a healthy sales funnel in line and exceeding set targets
  • Develop a growth strategy for key market segments and geographical region(s)
  • Work closely with current and prospective customers to understand business needs and develop customer specific value propositions.
  • Assess, prioritise and strategies new business opportunities, potential deal size, organisational structure, decision makers and budget holders
  • Employ activities which can have a direct impact on the companys revenue and brand growth in relevant markets.
  • Take a lead role in exceeding the defined targets in line with the companys strategy and sales target.
  • Drive solution development for existing and new customers from problem identification stage to proposal stage.
  • Drive tender processes from inception to tender submittance, with support from process and engineering departments if and when needed.
  • Actively participate in internal sales funnel meetings.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree/Diploma
  • At least 10 years experience in a relevant market related position, selling to industrial customers in the FMCG and/or mining sector.
  • Must have proven track record of independently developing and selling project > R 10 Mil
  • Must have a well-developed network of clients, partners and consultants in the private sector.
  • Must have a proven track record achieving profitable growth in the water treatment sector, using a technical / consultative sales approach.
  • Experience in developing business proposals that highlight a compelling value proposition to the key decision maker.
  • Process design capacities
  • Solid water treatment technology solution knowledge
  • Sound understanding of commercial project finance and project feasibility calculations
  • Sound understanding of fundamental contractual aspects
  • Strong business and commercial skills
  • Interpersonal skills demonstrate ability to interact at all levels
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Persuasive, confident and assertive.
  • Good oral and written expression skills
  • Result driven
