Regulatory & Governmental General Ensure that all sites within the Natural Resources Business Line comply to all Governmental & Regulatory requirements stipulated in relevant OHS act, COIDA Act, Generic employment related (HSE only), environmental legislation, applicable Regulatory bodies (e.g., NNR, DMRE, DOL, SADPMR, SAHPHRA) Provide support to all sites within the Business Line on any Regulatory & Governmental requirements. Conduct Governmental & Regulatory Compliance training where needed to staff. Conduct relevant Risk & Opportunities Assessments on Governmental & Regulatory Requirements, and revise on an annual basis. Ensure Legal Compliance Audits are carried out for all commercial sites within the Business Line. Ensure action plans are available after the Legal Compliance Audits have been conducted, and actions are carried out. Manage clear HSE related communication between role players (OI, Coordinators and Management) on all Governmental & Regulatory matters. Assist locations and form part of all Legal Compliance Audits, Regulatory audits / visits (DMRE, DOL, Environmental) with internal and external audits, client visits, governmental / regulatory visits etc. Conduct OI Compliance Audits and Compliance Visits and provide guidance and assistance on related challenged and areas of improvement. Ensure all permits & licenses are valid, and kept valid for all sites within the Business Line where applicable (e.g., precious permit, import & export licenses etc.) Be visible on all sites within Natural Resources, to show OI commitment as per Top Page objectives. Adhere and ensure adherence to all safety requirements of the SGS management system. Perform any reasonable tasks assigned to the job holder to support the overall OI strategy National Nuclear Regulator (NNR) Be the appointed RPO (Radiation Protection Officer) for all sites in the Business Line where a Certificate of Registration exist. Ensure compliance to the NNR requirements and internal NORM procedures, per site who has a valid COR. Fulfill the duties of the RPO as required by NNR (RPO appointment letter) Travel to the relevant sites (who has COR's) and ensure the NNR system is implemented and fully functional. Provide feedback to site personnel and OI Manager on a regular basis. Form part of all NNR related inspections, visits, audits etc. and represent the site as needed Appointed Radiation Protection officer for Natural Resources, and ensure compliance to the NNR requirements Align work with Natural Resources OI Manager and Location OI Coordinators & Location Manager Implement specific Regulatory & Governmental requirements to assure compliance Manage all licenses and permits, and ensure they are kept up to date. Be the communication person between SGS and the relevant Regulatory / Governmental bodies. Conduct OI inspections and self-assessments to verify implementation of Regulatory & Governmental requirements regarding Health, Safety and the Environment. Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and take action to address the hazard. Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue. Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified. QualificationsAdditional Information Education Matric (Grade 12) SAMTRAC or equivalent Certificate (NQF 5) NNR Radiation Protection Officer Certificate (Advantage) Experience 8 - 10 years administrative experience 8 - 10 years relevant HSE management experience Experience of any Regulatory & Governmental bodies (advantage) Advance Microsoft software experience Document and report writing experience Competencies Knowledge on ISO 45001, ISO14001 Legal Liability Broad knowledge of applicable Regulatory & Governmental bodies Systems and Legal auditing Good personnel / communication skills Role player and Team Leader Investigation knowledge and skills Risk Assessing knowledge and skills Required Skills Ability to understand and explain technical (HSE specific) topics for all levels of personnel Ability to understand site contributions to Regional OI Performance and capability to use existing tools; prioritizing risks and influencing factors Ability to influence without direct reporting lines Ability to evaluate the accuracy of root cause analysis and the effectiveness of proposed solutions Sufficient knowledge of English to communicate with the OI Manager and to understand Global OI Communications Apply Now
