To develop and implement a category strategy based on the considerations of trade, customer, market, and trends. The Buyer will need to lead the category team to achieve the category objectives of sales, profit, quality, availability, innovation, Trusted Price and market share growth. Create profitable, sustainable category strategies. Effectively and collaboratively lead the matrix team. Effectively manage the supplier base and drive mutually beneficial partnerships. Ability to actively review factors influencing trade i.e., market share, local & international trends, economic climate, competitor activity & changes to customer shopping habits, and translate this into strategy. Build relationships with marketing, merchandising and space planning to maximise sales and promotions in stores. Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies. Drive E2E value chain initiatives to effectively manage product/range costs. Manage financial indicators and all expenses. Manage the end-to-end product development process, milestones, timelines, category reviews and include key stakeholders at each point. Give input to the planning and forecasting of products and ranges. Work with marketing, sales management, space planning & trade planning to effectively drive the growth of the category. Relevant commercial degree/diploma. Minimum of 3 years' experience in Buying and/or Commercial roles. Knowledge and understanding of factors influencing a products' cost and selling prices. Strong financial management skills with proven ability to deliver the category's KPIs. Strong integrator within a matrix structure with proven leadership ability Strong EQ and the ability to work under pressure. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to co-ordinate and deliver category operating plan. Ability to analyse financial statements. Quality mindset. Proactive and Innovative with a continuous improvement mindset. Knowledge and understanding of store operations, customer profiles, locations & competitors. Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts, processes, and systems. Ability to initiate and implement innovative and viable business ideas. Team player with an understanding of diversity. Apply Now
