The Cardiology Technician II (EKG) explains and performs electrocardiograms. Primary function is to monitor, edit and assign EKGs in Muse for the network. The Cardiology Technician will identify and educate problem areas/sites performing EKGs throughout the network. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Explains and performs Electrocardiograms (EKG). Monitors, Edits and assigns EKGs in Muse. Performs scanning of 24 hour ambulatory ECG monitor tapes. Evaluates rhythms, ECG configuration, documents results, and reports pertinent clinical findings to physicians. Explains, applies and removes 24-hour Holter monitors. Explains and performs Cardiac Stress Testing. Evaluates diagnostic data recorded or displayed and reports abnormal findings to the nurse or physician as appropriated. Maintains equipment and supplies associated with diagnostic testing. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment and knowledge of growth and development appropriate to the age of the patient treated (Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent or Geriatric). PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting up to 7 hours per day, 2-3 hours consecutively, when doing Holter scanning. Walking and/or standing up to 7 hours per day. Standing in 15 minute increments, walking up to 2 hour increments. Frequent use of hands/fingers to operate equipment, apply electrodes and data entry on keyboard. Frequent use of upper extremities to reposition patients, transport patients and lift supplies up to 20 lbs. When doing testing continuously pushes EKG equipment for studies, approximately 70 lbs. Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, twisting, reaching overhead for filing and reaching electrical outlets and/or phone jacks for EKG transmission. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and visual monotony when scanning. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited/approved cardiovascular program, hospital based cardiovascular education program, graduate of a medical assistant program or one year experience as a cardiology technician preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of advanced cardiac dysrhythmias. Please complete your application using your full legal name and current home address.
