Category Manager: General Merchandise (DL) Market Related Package Cape Town Excellent career opportunity with a leading global retail company for a Category Manager: General Merchandise. You will be responsible for purchasing goods and maintaining the products at the budgeted gross profit for both the Distribution Centre and Retailers. Key Performance Areas: Support and execution regionally of the National GM Strategy. Develop and execute Regional GM Strategy based on relevant market data. Strategically drive sales to budget through full implementation of overall category strategy. Negotiate deals, pricing, promotional pricing and new product launches. Continued innovation to assist in developing category sales contribution to total sales. Daily analysis of and response to key statistics. Manage and grow DC and Retail margin in line with Budget. Manage recoveries in line with Budget. Maintain stockholding against budget (Days and Budget). Align Supplier Strategy with GM Category strategy and foster good trading relationships. Regular supplier strategic reviews and sales meetings. Ongoing Category Management. Qualifications and experience Marketing or similar tertiary education is advantageous. 5 to 7 years of experience in the retail/FMCG industry Knowledge of Buying Systems and processes Strong Planning and Financial Skills Drivers license
