Chemical Technician Needed at Sappi - South Africa
Sappi is looking for a qualified candidate to provide analytical support to the mill in order to improve process, optimize production as well as existing laboratory methods and techniques Minimum Requirements Diploma in Analytical chemistry or related equivalent is required while a BTech / BSc would be considered advantageous 1 year relevant experience preferably within a pulp and paper or manufacturing environment Computer Literacy (MS Office, MS Projects) Job Specification Supervise the laboratory in terms of practice, consumables as well as staff Plan and control tasks, consumables and resources within the laboratory Calculate chemical stoichiometry and other analytical / pulp or process chemistry calculations Record, statistically validate and store all data, log sheets, data sheets, notebook and spread sheets accordingly Report all test and projects results timeously Maintain quality standards and ensure data has been statistically evaluated Ensure all procedures and calculations are technically sound and chemically sound Work according to established work instructions and best operating practices Monitor costs and usage within the laboratory Ensure timeous calibration of equipment Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain good levels of housekeeping Develop innovative solutions to analytical problems Contribute to knowledge management within the department Key competencies / skills Reasoning and analytical ability Problem solving Planning and organising Analytical chemistry Wood and Cellulose chemistry How to Apply Click here to apply online Recruiter: Sappi Southern Africa Ltd Updated on: 2014-04-09 00:00:00 REF SAIM/SMT/NC/Chemical Technician/Umkomaas/250314 End Date: 2014-04-11 AA/EE: Applicable Contract Permanent Location: Umkomaas Available: Asap Category: Technical Offer: Market Related
